The Golf Profiteer Review – too much choice?

In this The Golf Profiteer review, I’ll be looking at this tipping service that, as the name suggests,  focuses solely on the world of golf. Is this finally a tipster that can make money from this notoriously difficult niche?

What is The Golf Profiteer?

In football matches, there are only two teams. In greyhound racing, there are only 6 runners. Even in horse racing, the biggest races have around 40 runners. In a golf tournament, there can be as many as 150 players. So, you’ll understand why golf tipping is often called ‘difficult’ or ‘unpredictable’.

The Golf Profiteer Review

I’ve always thought the word ‘impossible’ should be added to that, especially after I first looked at this service for another website a few years ago. At the time it was in the middle of an 18 month ‘bad patch’ that saw nearly 90% of its overall profits disappear.

Since then, fortunes have improved so it’s time to take another look and see if this service has finally cracked it.

How does The Golf Profiteer Work?

Before we start, a quick word about each way bets in golf. Because of the size of the field, you can bet on a golfer to win, get top 5 or top 10. So, when you see each way referred to here, it means they were top 5 or 10, not 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

I mention this because all of the Golf Profiteer’s tips are each way. You’ll be staking 2 pts in total each time at what, for any other sport would be stupid odds. In golf though, odds of 15 or 26 are OK (or to put things in perspective, Rory McIlroy in his pomp would still have been 5.5 to win a tournament outright).

You’ll have plenty of time to put these on, as they will arrive Wednesday for the weekend’s competitions. You’ll get between 2 and 8 tips for each weekend, across a couple of tournaments. Because of the larger scope for ‘each way’ in golf, don’t be phased if you get 2 or 3 golfers for the same tournament, they could all easily get you a profit.

Golf tipping may be different but getting started is just the same. You’ll have to part with some cash, which you can do on the Tipster Street website. After that, the tips will be sent to the email address of the PayPal account you paid with, but you can change this if you get in contact with Tipster Street.

You can do this easily with all of the major bookmakers, as they all have the markets you’ll need, so there are no new accounts to open unless you want to. You could even (as this tipster has done on several occasions) use Betfair or one of the other exchanges. You could get a better price, but remember to take commission fees into consideration.

How long does it take to use The Golf Profiteer?

Even though these are new markets for most of us, this is about 10 minutes tops. It’s a bit longer if you want to go hunting for better prices, which is where oddschecker comes in handy.

There’s no real scope for speeding this up by doing it on your phone, though you may find it more convenient.

How much can you make with The Golf Profiteer?

The Golf Profiteer Profits

From what I’ve said so far, you’re probably not expecting the profits to be massive, and they’re not. Taking into account the disastrous 18 months I mentioned above total profits sit at just 315pts. That will give you an average profit of just 3.7pts, which is of use to no one.

But, if you look at results since August 2017, when a major rethink must have taken place, the average profit is nearly 3 times that which is much healthier. As the only person still subscribed after 18 months of losses was probably the tipster’s mother, I don’t think I’ll be misleading anyone by using figures since then, from now on.

How much does The Golf Profiteer cost?

So, when we take into account subscription fees, we’re looking at a £100/month average profit.  So, once you factor in the Tipster Street special offer price of £2.49 for the first 30 days, then £9.95 each month or £19.95 for a quarter, the fees aren’t bad. In fact, they work out to be quite good.

There is, however, the matter of the profit crash 2 years ago, and the 300pt that is recommended as a result. I can’t say this would be no longer necessary, so you have to weigh up having £3000 sitting there for the sake of £100 a month before fees.

The Golf Profiteer Review Advantages

This is very easy to do. Give this to a beginner and they would be fine with it after doing it a couple of times. You’re just placing bets once a week so there’s no waiting for your phone or laptop to go beep each day.

Best of all, the profits are decent over the last couple of years and the fees hardly make a dent in them.

The Golf Profiteer Review Disadvantages

You might want bigger numbers though. £100 in profit each month is OK but it won’t be enough for a lot of people. You can’t forget that huge profits crash either. There has clearly been a bit of a rethink since then but it’s going to be at the back of your mind as soon as you get a couple of losing months in a row.

The Golf Profiteer Review Conclusion and Overall Rating

If like me, you find the most interesting thing about golf is the burger van by the 6th tee of your local course, you’re going to miss a lot of the appeal of this. The tipster does this because they love golf, as do the followers.

If they wanted just to make a profit, they’d use another service that picked easier targets. So, if you’re into golf, this is a handy way of making some money while you’re following it. Otherwise, you might find this just a bit too much effort.
