In this The Honest Tipster review, I’ll be taking a look at this tipping service on the Betfan platform. This service has been operating since June 2018 and has posted some decent results and I’ll be finding out if the ‘Honest Tipster’ is worth your trust.
What is The Honest Tipster?
Naming yourself The Honest Tipster is a big call. One slip up and you’re lining yourself up for all sorts of trouble. Paul, the man behind this service does seem like a decent bloke, who’s very upfront about his background and experience.
All this is great but if I can be honest for a moment, I don’t really care if a tipster is a decent bloke. What I’m after is a tipster who can pick enough winners for me to make money. So, does he fit the bill? Let’s see…
How does The Honest Tipster Work?
You’ll get between 2 and 4 bets each day, made up of a mixture of singles, each way, doubles and each way patents (which consist of 3 singles, 3 doubles and a treble). You’ll be staking between 2 and 5 points on the singles doubles and EWs, with 7pts total going on the patents.
The odds are pretty high most of the time so you’ll have to be quick to get the advised prices. This is especially true with the patents where missing just one price can make a huge difference.
How long does The Honest Tipster take to set up?
If you’re already a BetFan member you can get in very quickly, but if you’re new to the site you’ll have to register first. After that, it’s just a case of paying your money and waiting for your first tips to arrive.
You should be able to place these bets with your preferred bookmaker, though it will be worth checking you’ve got access to a few more in case you need to go looking for prices. After that, you’re good to go.
How long does it take to use The Honest Tipster?
The singles doubles and each way bets are quick and simple. The Patent bets are essentially seven bets so it will take you longer. The races I saw were all available on the usual bookmakers but the prices did vary a bit on some of the higher prices.
It all shouldn’t take you much longer than 10 minutes or so, but that’s a lot longer than many of the services I’ve seen. You will get a patent quite often so the question is really – is it worth all of the extra effort?
How much can you make with The Honest Tipster?
Unfortunately, the answer is not really. This service has had some winning months but is showing an overall loss since June 2018 of 174pts. At £10/pt, you’d have leaked £1740 in 19 months, or £91 a month.
When you take into account that would have been much worse without a 124pt win last month. To be ‘honest’ this simply isn’t good enough. As there is a stupid amount of permutations of what could be called a ‘win’, posting a strike rate is pointless. What really matters here are the profits and there aren’t any of those.
How much does The Honest Tipster cost?
In any other circumstances, £13 for a week, £39 for 28 days, £109 for three months or £185 for six months would seem OK. But, with the loses this service has sustained, it’s all just money down the drain.
Not starting bank is recommended but I’d say a 400pt bank would be a bare minimum. Any lower and you would have bust out at least once. There are much better uses for that amount of money, so if nothing else has put you off so far, this should put the final nail in the coffin.
The Honest Tipster Review Advantages
When you approach this service, you are in no doubt the tipster has your best interests at heart. This service is called the Honest Tipster for a reason and there is definitely no fluff or filler here.
The Honest Tipster Review Disadvantages
Trouble is, there aren’t any profits either, just some pretty big losses. The bets are a little more complicated than you’ll find with other tipsters, and unfortunately, as results stand it’s not just worth the effort.
Given that, including fees you’d be £2300 down since this service started, there’s really only one thing more to say about this service.
The Honest Tipster Review Conclusion and Overall Rating
If you started following this tipster, on the current form you’ll lose money. In all probability, you’ll lose quite a bit of money. Where other services can be a bit of a rollercoaster, this one only seems to be going in one direction.
I believe that this service was started with the most genuine of intentions but the last year or so has proved that simply hasn’t been enough. Until this service can change its name to ‘the profitable tipster’ I can only recommend that you avoid.
